| Murmansk is a non-freezing and very important port in the north of Russia on the White Sea. It is the largest Russian city within the Arctic Circle, and was founded at the beginning of the 20th century. The population of Murmansk is 472,000. Places to see include the Museum of the Life of Pomor People. In November and December, magnificent views of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) can be enjoyed. The Sports Festival of the Peoples of the North takes place every March. The main industry is fishery and fish processing.
