| Perm is a port, situated on the river Kama. The city was founded in 1780 and has a population of 1,110,000. Among the places to see are the Peter and Paul Cathedral (1757), and the Empire-style Cathedral of the Spaso-Preobrazhenskiy monastery. The main industries are timber, non-ferrous metallurgy, working of precious metals, and oil processing.
